You're invited to our next Strategic Planning Meeting
Tuesday, March 24th at 6:30 PM
in the Logan School Cafeteria
Strategic Planning answers three big questions:
1 - Where are we today?
2 - Where do we want to be in the future?
3 - What should we be focused on today,
in order to make it more likely we will be
where we want to be in the future?

This is a reminder regarding snow make-up days. Now that we have had a second snow closing, school days will be made up on Monday, March 30th and Tuesday, March 31st.

Logan Township School District participated in the largest national education event in history called, “The Hour of Code” this past week.  Students in more  than 57,000 classrooms around the world learned their first Hour of Code, jumping into a field that can change the rest of their lives.  Through computer coding, students not only solve problems, they find problems to solve. This prepares them for true college and career experiences. This problem-based approach to learning, infuses technology, while engaging students in higher level thinking.

The goal of Hour of Code was to give students their first taste of coding through a series of engaging, hands-on, one-hour tutorials. It's an opportunity for every student to try computer science and peak their interest in one of the fastest growing job markets. (Computer science is a top paying college degree. Computer programming jobs are growing at two times the national average and five times the New Jersey average.)

As a result of the district-wide participation in this event, NJTV (New Jersey's Public Television Network) visited the Logan Elementary and Middle Schools on Thursday, December 11th to film and interview our students who were participating in computer coding. This segment was aired on the NJTV network on Thursday evening at 6 PM on Comcast Station 23. Please take a few minutes and click on the video below to watch the broadcast so you can hear first hand from our staff and students the opportunity coding provides to them.
If you would like to learn more about the Hour of Code, please visit the Computer Science Education Week site (csedweek.org).
